RESTAURANT KENKOMI
About This Spot
Walking into RESTAURANT KENKOMI, tucked away on Boulevard Saint Jean Baptiste in Châteauguay, you’re greeted by an intimate space that warmly blends the relaxed charm of a cozy izakaya with thoughtful touches of Vietnamese and Japanese culture. The restaurant’s modest size invites a sense of quiet comfort, where the soft hum of conversation and the subtle clinking of dishes create a steady, welcoming rhythm.
The atmosphere feels unpretentious and genuinely inviting, the kind of spot where familiar faces and new guests alike settle easily into a soothing, unhurried pace of dining. Whether you’re sliding into a booth for a casual meal or sharing small plates with friends, the space has a gentle buzz that complements conversation without overwhelming it.
Here, food becomes a quiet celebration of thoughtful craftsmanship. The kitchen offers more than just a meal — it’s an exploration of textures and flavors that draw from diverse Japanese and Vietnamese traditions, each bite resonating with subtle layers and care. Dishes like tender tataki, light tempura vegetables, or a richly aromatic bowl of ramen encourage you to slow down, savoring the moment as much as the taste. Sweetened with delicate notes, desserts such as green tea ice cream or matcha cheesecake offer a gentle, calming finish to the meal.
The pace of service mirrors the ambiance — attentive and warm without feeling rushed, making each visit feel like a small but meaningful escape from the day-to-day. This isn’t a place for grand gestures or bold showmanship, but rather one of quiet satisfaction, where the genuine kindness of the staff and the well-considered menu create a subtle sense of delight that lingers long after your plate is cleared.
For anyone seeking a spot in Châteauguay that balances the familiar with a touch of discovery, RESTAURANT KENKOMI offers a quietly delightful experience, a little corner to enjoy fresh flavors, comfortable moments, and the soft intimacy of a neighborhood gem.

Very impressive. I loved my experience. The service was excellent and the whole staff was super friendly and pleasant. The food was excellent and very appealing. The restaurant itself is small and cozy creating a great atmosphere and pleasant environment. Not what i expected from outside. I can’t wait to go back

Went tonight for my first time. Food was very delicious and fresh. I gave 4 stars because wasn't crazy about the tempura batter. Not your typical one. I'll definitely be back to try other dishes. We had salmon teriyaki, tuna takaki and veggie tempura.

Tried this new restaurant that was anticipated all over the FB Châteauguay community and it did not disappointed. Staff were super nice. The food was very fresh and delicious. Very nice decoration inside. The sashimi platter was just a fresh delight that would be my favorite. Hot plates were just as good with teriyaki sauce. The green tea cheesecake is very good! The have a cocktail menu, but didn't sell, owner says it's soon, so can't wait to try them out. Highly recommend to try this place out.

The food was good, but a bit expensive depending on what you get. I would recommend either a ramen or a general jap, because the portions are good and worth the price. I however got a sizzling teriyaki chicken and the portion was very small and I wouldn't say it was worth the price. The coffee was also very expensive. For a small cup it was $3, which for that price I can go to Tims and get a large coffee. Other than that, it was a decent place. Nothing extraordinary, but not too bad either.

We ordered takeout and the way they packaged it was amazing, to keep it fresh. The service was super nice and super grateful of what I thought was a less generous tip of 10%. Unfortunately the Takoyaki was soggy by the time I got home but it was still really good(I'm a Takoyaki Fein). The beef ramen tasted amazing and not too expensive for it's quality. Probably the best Japanese spot on Châteauguay

A friend recommended this restaurant in Châteauguay, and I must say, it didn't disappoint. Upon entering, we were captivated by the beautiful decor and the inviting ambiance. The cleanliness and warmth of the place added to our exceptional experience. The staff, especially our server, were incredibly friendly. We started with gyoza and takoyaki, which were the best I've ever tasted – the takoyaki melted in the mouth. The Miso soups were delicious, undoubtedly the best I've had, and the tofu was a delightful surprise. For main courses, we tried smoked salmon, red curry, and shrimp and seafood udon – each dish was excellent, with the red curry standing out for its rich flavor. Dessert comprised matcha cake and ice cream, all of which were incredibly delicious. The only constructive criticism is regarding vegetarian options; unfortunately, most broths are meat-based, limiting choices for vegetarians. Despite this, everything else was perfect. I highly recommend this place and will gladly return – a gem like this in Châteauguay is truly fortunate!
